Welcome to the Africa Mental Health Reforms Organization for Promotion of Mental Health (AMHROA). I am honored to lead this vital consortium, driven by a shared commitment to transforming mental health care across Africa. We are a collective of passionate mental health professionals, advocates, and individuals, united by the belief that mental health is a fundamental human right. Our mission is to break down the barriers limiting access to quality care, address the mental health workforce shortage, and advocate for critical policy reforms.
Your support and collaboration are essential as we work toward a more equitable and inclusive mental health system for all Africans. Together, we can create lasting change, ensuring mental health care becomes a reality for everyone across the continent. Thank you for standing with us in this important mission.
Ameh Zion Abba
Convener, AMHROA
We advocate for policies that increase access to mental health care, including telehealth services, community-based care, and integrated care models. Our goal is to ensure broader accessibility for all.
We support policies that develop the mental health workforce, addressing the shortage of professionals such as psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers and ensuring an adequate supply of professionals in Africa.
We advocate for policies that ensure mental health care is covered equally with physical health care. This includes the strict enforcement of existing parity laws for comprehensive and fair coverage.
The council comprises regional representatives who provide oversight, direction, and leadership to the network.
